EXHIBIT: Summer of Surrealism

There are a lot of events that are happening this Summer that could be called "surreal". Peace in Kosovo? The thirtieth anniversary of Man's first steps on the moon. The most surreal concept in the history of mankind. To think that a person has actually been on that huge sphere that lights our night's sky. That moon that we look at but could never assume that it was accessible to us. Achieving the unimaginable is my main drive when I set out to create an aesthetic expression. With that in mind, and adding our notions of surrealism, I set out to capture an icon of that period of Art History. Immediately Magritte's Apple Head Man came to mind. I recreated him in RayDream Studio and gave him the painterly touch in Photoshop. The result I call "Rape of Magritte". "Man's first step" is an homage to the thirtieth anniversary of the event and is a composition of several images filtered and manipulated in Photoshop.
